It is the policy of St Michael’s Ambulance Service for staff to:
- Greet all staff and residents of all organizations no matter what one’s personal feelings towards them.
- Greet each other when coming on or going off shift (depending on who’s around)
- Greet other EMS personal regardless of which service they are from.
- St Michael’s medics shall not talk loudly or shout near hospitals, care centres, patient’s homes or where silence is requested.
- Swearing at each other aggressively or at anyone else (out of a joking situation) is not permitted and will result in disciplinary action.
- Rude gestures (such as the middle finger) are not permitted whilst in a St Michael’s Ambulance Vehicle or uniform.
- Staff shall always attempt to assist any person that needs help be it medical or not.
- No staff member shall ever walk through a door in front of a lady or elderly person.
- Slouching around is not acceptable in public, stand up straight and do not lean on counters etc.
Dress Code: General Operations
The following dress code should be adhered to with pride:
- Specially made flightsuit with the correct branding and name badge.
- Boots should be black and well-polished
- No piercings or excessive jewellery may be worn.
- Women may wear stud earrings
- Reflective vests must always be zipped up when being worn.
- Reflective vest sleeves may not be pulled up.
- Reflective vests must always be worn when working on an accident scene or when attending to a patient in public at night.
- Crew may wear a neat pair of sunglasses whilst working in the sun or whilst driving. Safety glasses are the only glasses that may be worn inside.
- No civilian uniform may be worn that shows clearly through work uniform.
- No civilian hats may be worn whilst on duty.
Office Manager/Manageress:
- Tidy hair and neat earrings
- Casual makeup (women only)
- Men should either have a tidy beard or they should be cleanly shaven.
- Men are not permitted to wear earrings/piercings/rings except that of verified cultural belief/excessive bangles.
- No offensive tattoos should be displayed whilst in uniform.
- May only wear the approved uniforms according to weather and applicability.
Operations Manager:
